Brows are the first thing I got into when I started to divulge into makeup 4 years ago. Now I can barely leave the house unless at the very least my brows are done. I’ve used pencils in the past but always found that they were either too dry and I was scraping them on my face to get them to work, or breaking them trying to sharpen them.
When I was introduced to pomade, my life changed forever. I was introduced to Anastasia Dip Brow (retails $24 CAD) and fell in love. Being new to makeup, I didn’t know what other options I had and went based off of what my friends told me (who had more experience than I did).
Fast forward a few years later, and I discovered Morphe. They are my favorite brand so far for budget friendly, but still quality products. I wish when I was starting out that I knew about them. BUT finding their pomade, and seeing that its only $8 CAD absolutely blew my mind.
So with this new information, we’re putting them both to the test. A battle of the brows to see if our budget friendly brow products work as well (or better) than our high end competitor.
I currently have an almost full ABH Brow Pomade jar (this will literally last me a year), so I purchased the Morphe Brow Kit (it was a better value to get the kit at $24 CAD for the pomade, brow pencil, gel, brush and highlighter for under the brow arch).
[For cost reasons, I can’t give my honest opinion for the ABH Brow Wiz and Brow Gel because I do not own them, but I have heard good things about those products.]
Performance wise for the ABH Dip Brow, its fantastic. It glides on smoothly and I have no problem with it lasting all day. The Dip Brow is nice because of their shade range as well. There are lots of options so you’re really almost guaranteed to find a perfect match. If cost is not an issue, I would (and always do) recommend the ABH Dip Brow. You can find it at Sephora (in store or online) or on the ABH website.
Now for Morphe. If there was ever a direct comparable for something, it would be Morphes pomade comparing to the ABH Dip Brow. The only thing that’s not comparable is the price. In my opinion, I liked the Morphe one a little better (and that says a lot for someone that’s religiously used the ABH Dip Brow for over 3 years). The colour match was basically a spot on comparison, the application was great, but it cost a fraction of what I’d normally pay for the Dip Brow.
For reference I normally use shade medium brown in the ABH Dip Brow and got shade Mocha from Morphe and it was basically a spot on match for me (Morphe looked to be on the warm side in comparison).
In all honesty, if you’re looking for a more budget friendly option for brows or you’re just getting started in learning about makeup, get the Morphe Arch Obsessions Brow Kit. It gives you everything you need to get yourself started at a great price!
If you’re someone that’s okay with spending a little more on makeup the ABH Dip Brow is for you!
A little goes a long way with pomade so you don’t need a lot. I buy my pomade maybe once a year and that’s it. So if you want to take that into consideration and invest in the ABH Dip Brow that’s not a bad option either. Its just a little more out of pocket at first that’s all.
